Scope out all the fun and artful activities that the 2017 Kerrville Chalk Festival offers.
Chalk Walk – From classics to contemporary, experience the art of street painting from more than 60 artists throughout the weekend. Watch as artists create spectacular chalk drawings in all styles and sizes.
Children’s Chalk Area – Children up to 12 years of age will be invited to draw with chalk at the Festival in a specific area. Chalk kits for children will include a two by two foot square of fresh pavement and a small bag of chalk. Each square with chalk kit will cost $10. Children must be accompanied and supervised. The expanded Kid’s Zone now includes:
- Face painting and balloon art
- Classic games such as marbles and hopscotch
- Interactive photo mural where attendees snap a picture alongside a vertical wall to instantly share on social media.
Community Mural – There will be an opportunity for adults and children age 12 and up to express their creativity at the Community Mural. It will consist of a large designated space where individuals will chalk up their unique artistic vision. Bring a family friendly idea for chalk art or be completely spontaneous. Since the Festival is a fundraiser donations are greatly appreciated.
Chalk the Star – Kerr Arts & Cultural Center artists will wow you as they chalk the Peterson Plaza star that is situated near the gate of the historic Schreiner Mansion.
Schreiner Mansion Tours – Come and explore one of Kerrville’s most beautiful and historic homes. Tour the Mansion and see highlights of the past and present with a guided volunteer docent. Representing more than 135 years of social, architectural and cultural history, visit this restored home of Captain Charles Schreiner.
