The tradition of street painting dates to the 16th century when artists would transform the streets and public squares into temporary galleries for their works of art. Although their paintings lasted only until the next rain, the tradition has endured for more than 400 years. The Kerrville Chalk Festival will take place in downtown Kerrville, Texas on the beautiful Peterson Plaza.
In the interest of public health and safety the Kerrville Chalk Festival has cancelled the annual street painting event for this year. The Kerrville Chalk Festival is scheduled to return October 16 – 17, 2021.
Participate in this extraordinary art experience. Pastels are the medium and works produced are temporary. There are no fees for artists and your materials will be provided. Artists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Questions? Email info@kerrvillechalk.org.
